Bridge Repair

We regularly conduct maintenance on our many kilometers of trails in our district. Earier in the season we were clearing bush, fallen trees, widening trails and whipper snipping tall grass on our trails. On occasion we have to build or repair bridges. On Saturday June 18th the Northumberland District ATV Riders Club repaired a bridge on our trail. Thanks to all who participated into performing the repair.

Pictures of the repair are available here.

2016 Safe Riding Course

NDATV held our first Safe Riding Course on Sunday June 12th, 2016.

We had 7 participants attend the course and all passed. The day was perfect for the ride after the course. We practiced circles in front of the NDATV clubhouse before hitting loop 2 and loop 1 to return to the clubhouse. We did on road riding; rode on sand, gravel, mud, rutted trails and forest paths; did uphill, downhill and even enjoyed the view at lookout point. Most riders also were treated to a young white tail deer and her baby fawn.

June’s EOTA Ride

On Saturday June 11th the Northumberland District ATV Riders Club hosted an EOTA ride along the Trans Canada Trail and Heritage Trail Systems. We started in Corbyville on route to Tweed (lunch in Tweed) then travelled, back through Stirling to Corbyville for a distance of 115 km.

We had 7 ATV’s and 8 riders attend this event. It was a great day to ride, the rain on Friday night was enough to keep the dust down but there were numerous puddles on the trails. We saw 3 deer, who were very camera shy, could not get cameras ready in time before they disappeared into the woods, numerous turtles and other wildlife and blooming spring flowers. One obstacle was encountered along the Heritage Trail from Stirling to Corbyville, but each of us skillfully maneuver around and under the big tree which had fallen as a result of the high winds. We saw many other riders out enjoying the dust free trails and nice weather. Thanks to all who attended and shared photos.

Pictures of the ride are available here.

2016 Community Connections Expo

NDATV attended the 2016 Community Connections Expo on June 3rd and 4th at the Cobourg Community Center.

The event was hosted by the Safe Communities Northumberland County. This is their first Community Connections Expo to bring the County residents together in one place with all the services that keep them safe and healthy in this community!

We had several visitors to our outside booth where we had a full size ATV, a two up ATV and three different sized youth ATVs. We handed out our safety pamphlets, sold a few hats, took memberships and gave out our children colouring books.

Pictures of the Community Connections Expo are available here.
