General Membership Oct 2016

On October 15th, 2016 NDATV held it’s fall General Membership meeting and ride. Mike Ainsworth opened the meeting and introduced the NDATV executive and board members. We had 30 members attend the meeting. The key items of the meeting were:

• The Introduction of the OFATV changes. The new weekend pass, day pass wrist band and the change to the family pass. For family members living at the same residence; the first two passes are $150 and for each addition pass is $100. We can now purchase memberships directly from the OFATV website. The website has been updated with this information and the links.

• Mike A. mentioned our insurance is now covered under the OFATV umbrella. We will continue to use Oasis Insurance for the clubhouse which is due every December. We are investigating if non-member volunteers (such as students) doing maintenance on our trails are covered by our insurance.

• Dan mentioned the changes to the Corporate Bylaws which were approved by the members present at the meeting. The age of a member has been changed from 12 to 16 years of age with a valid driver’s license; changing of all EOTA references to OFATV; adding a new item on the remuneration of volunteers which states “All NDATV members who volunteers for work for NDATV and who have accumulated over 15 hours of service can receive remuneration not in money but for NDATV apparel or towards their OFATV portion of their memberships”; and that the directors will be the custodian of the clubhouse key codes.

• Mike A. mentioned that May 28th, 2016 was our major fundraiser for the Northumberland Food for Thought Student Nutrition Program. Unfortunately the fundraising event was not well attended. The board will discuss our 2018 Fundraising event in the fall of 2017. We have had a higher than average percentage of rides canceled this year due to lack of participants. We are thinking of organizing fewer rides and socials next year and reducing the poker runs and the BBQs. We still plan to provide free food at our two yearly General Membership Meetings.

• We held our first NDATV Safe Riding course in June which had 7 members attend. It was decided at that session to hold the course every 2 years.

• We have revised the Trenton Hills presentation and will present an ATV Road Use Bylaw to the Hamilton and Cramahe Townships. We have also been asked to present to the Brighton council.

• The NDATV clubhouse has been painted, a BBQ deck built, a roof built over the font deck and a skirt was added to the front deck.

• Kim presented the treasurer’s report; our NDATV auditor’s audit of the financial books found them to be in order; and Dan presented the wardens and the webmaster’s report.

• Under new business Scott mentioned that we will change the “EOTA Monthly Rides” to “Monthly Rides” as we do not always ride just the EOTA trails.

We had 18 riders enjoy this ride through the fall colours. Pictures of the ride are available here.
