Trails are a wonderful way to spend an enjoyable day, relaxing and taking in the sights.
You will see some spectacular scenery and natural areas as you travel the trails.
We ask that you observe these few rules of the trail etiquette so that everyone's outing will be fun and you will help preserve trails for future generations.

  1. Please stay on the main trails! Some areas have rare sensitive plants and small animals that can be easily damaged or destroyed. Don't make new trails or use unmarked (unsigned) trails.

  2. Some areas may require user fees. Please prepare to pay a fee.

  3. Please respect neighboring landowners by staying off private trails and property. Avoid excessive noise.

  4. Please leave the trail as you found it; whatever you pack in, pack out.

  5. Please leave the wildflowers and wildlife for others to enjoy.

  6. Keep dogs on a leash at all times while on the trail.

  7. ALL USERS to slow to a walking speed when meeting up with other USERS and be prepared to stop.

  8. Respect and be courteous to other users who are also using shared use trails. Always yield right of way to other trail users who are approaching or passing. Be certain to communicate in advance with riders of Horses, Dog Teams and those walking pets.

  9. Use bridges for water crossings.

  10. Please slow down when your vision of the trail is restricted.

  11. Avoid sudden stops and starts and quick directional changes with acceleration.

Map of New County Forest Motorized Trails

On the following attachment you will find a map of the trails in Northumberland County Forest that have been assigned to atvs, snowmobiles and dirt bikes.  The Forest Master Plan was passed by County Council on July 22, 2009.

This Map is in "rough" stages of design and a higher quality Map is in the works by the County.

Note that the county will be starting to erect signage in the near future and that they have budgeted for OPP patrols to heavily warden the trails for the next few years.  Please ensure that you are always carrying your license, ownership, insurance and trail permit while atving.

Downloadable GPS Maps

For those who have GPS software.  In .GDB format, for Garmin Mapsource, in .GPS format for Magellan MapSend, in .GPX for all other GPS mapping software which supports the GPX format.

GPS and GPX are compressed in zip files, so make sure to SAVE it first THAN extract it to a location, i.e. Desktop.  Launch your GPS mapping software and retrieve the file from its saved location by clicking on File->Open and select the location were the file is saved i.e. Desktop, and find your map file.

Other brands of GPS and GPS software may still be able to open the posted file formats.  There is also many conversion tools available online to help you convert these files to your required format.

Be advised that a Trilium Trails Network Permit IS required to ride the NDATV trails.

TTN- daily, weekly and yearly passes, a yearly pass includes a one year membership to the NDATV Club, will soon be available for purchase at any of the three area ATV dealerships.  If a pass is required please contact us via email for arrangements in the interim.  You can still get the form to mail in from the Membership page.  Or better yet join us at any of our events and purchase your membership then.

Maps have been removed because of the new Northumberland Forest Master Plan.
Some of the trails that were posted are now restricted of Motorized use.
We will post new GPS tracks once we get them on a GPS file.

Cold Creek Bridge
On September 13, 2008 a dedication ceremony and stone unveiling was held during the 2nd annual Ride for Lizzy event, dedicating the Cold Creek bridge to the memory of Lizzy Corbeil.

NDATV is happy to announce that the bridge that was put in place over Cold Creek on September 1, 2007 has passed final engineering inspection.  This bridge has a span of 52'.
This bridge was the brainchild of Al Chapman and Robby Dekeyser.  They started on this project in the spring of 2006.  With the assistance of both members and non-members of Northumberland & District ATV Riders Club we have made this part of our trail both safer and more environmentally friendly.
The actual cost of the bridge would have been $15,015.87  Fortunately, due to donated materials, equipment costs and volunteer man hours actual money spent was only $5,093.87.
A breakdown in costs are:
Material donated including steel girders, cement cubes, wood, screws, cement screws, steel stakes, steel cable, steel channel and snow fence.  $2,547.00
Equipment donated including backhoes, tractors and dump trailers, loaders and bobcats used to prepare road and bridge embankments on the north & south side, moving and installing 4 cement cubes, and installing the bridge at the site.  $3,955.00
Man hours donated including clearing the site of trees and brush, picking field stones to upgrade trail & bridge site, fabricating bridge including cutting, fitting & welding, priming & painting bridge and moving & installing the bridge, installing wood top and banking ends with rock and gravel.
268 man hours estimated at a cost of $15.00 per hour.(a very conservative estimate for licensed welding etc.)  $3,420.00
Actual money spent was for Lower Trent Conservation Permit, Drafting Bridge & Blue Prints, Engineering Costs, Gas & Acetylene, Steel and bolts, nuts, cement, clamps, welding rod, gas paint primer, and misc.
$5,093.87
A huge thank you goes to Al Chapman, Robby Dekeyser, Ed Dekeyser, Don Clark, Steve Chapman, Brian Archibald, Arnold Jones, Jim Blakely, Terry Deseure and Jessie Smith for all of your hard work and volunteer hours that made this project a success.
Thank you also to the families of these men who missed a lot of family time with them in order to work on this project.

Working together as safe and & responsible atv riders.

Here is the list of EOTA and OFATV clubs that reciprocate passes with our club, with the exception of Kawartha.

Please remember that it is your responsibility as an ATV driver to research the municipalities that have passed atv road use bylaws prior to riding on the side of the roads.  You can research this by going to any municipalities website and searching under bylaws.  If that municipality has passed a bylaw you will find it there.  If it is not there atv road use is illegal in that municipality.
